Malcolm Chapple
Call: 1975

Malcolm Chapple was called to the Bar in 1975. Previously he was an undergraduate apprentice and then a development engineer at Heathrow Airport working for British Airways/BEA. He was awarded a BSc (first class) in Air Transport Engineering in 1973. His pupillage was with Michael Howard QC. He obtained a tenancy in April 1977 and has been in practice as a barrister ever since. Until about 1990, his practice was split between an intellectual property specialism and common law work (appearing mostly in the Crown and County Courts on the Midland Circuit). Since 1990 his practice has been divided between intellectual property and general commercial work in the High Court, with an emphasis upon the telecommunications industry. Outside his practice, for a number of years in the 1970's Malcolm was the captain of a rugby side at Rosslyn Park. He is Vice Chairman of the Body of Governors of the Royal Star and Garter Home, Richmond.
